[Equihunter] After a fire at a yard in Swanley in Kent, there has been an appeal for any help that fellow equestrians can offer, in providing emergency supplies as the fire has been described as destroying everything.

NEW UPDATE: ‘We are literally left with just a field’- Swanley stable destroyed after fire causes £50,000 of damage

The Kent Fire & Rescue Service posted this operational update at 8:00 p.pm. last night (9th July)…. Straw bales and stable alight in Gilden Hill Road, Swanley, Four fire engines and a bulk water carrier in attendance.

Crews are currently tackling a fire involving approximately 50 straw bales and stable block on Gilden Hill Road in Swanley.

Six horses have been led to safety by firefighters. There are no reports of any injuries and the cause of the fire is currently unknown.

Georgi Honnor from the yard posted this plea on Facebook this morning in the BSJA Group for any help that could be offered…..

“Urgent help needed! Our yard, Swanley Village went up in flames in an attack we are treating as suspicious after a burglary earlier in the week. We have lost everything our yard is no more, blaze has wiped everything including fencing, stables, feed, rugs, headcollars even water troughs we have nothing and 31 horses including 2 mares with young foals.

Any donation of anything horsey would be greatly appreciated as we have literally lost everything.

Georgi’s woes have been further added to when she commented that the “Yard owner is on holiday and trying to get back, couldn’t be worse of a nightmare ….

If you can offer any assistance the link to the original post is here…. Georgi Honnor’s post in BSJA

Fully re-covered seats in easy clean beige vinyl with our logo on the headrest.

The Horse Area Stalled for 2 with rear facing travel for a stress free journey, the robust central partition is an all steel construction. There’s an optional integral horse area camera available with a remote 7 inch wireless screen in the cab for the driver and passengers to review when driving.

A combined ramp & access door is split horizontally, this allows for easier loading and unloading in cramped venue conditions, this shorter fully assisted ramp easily lowers into position with the top door swinging up out of the way providing an element of cover from rain or sun. Both sections are powered by powerful gas rams that allow for a seamless and easy operation.

Day Living The rear section of the vehicle is set aside for day living which makes for a more comfortable day out. A bulkhead separates this section from the horse area but there is access to each of the horse stalls via two doors with protected windows, one to each stall.

There is also a large lockable access door to the rear of the vehicle. As an optional extras we can fit a wardrobe with a hanging rail for your riding gear, also a padded seating plus a concealed flushing toilet.

Also available as an optional extra is a gas hob and sink with an electrically pumped water supply. Two saddle racks and bridle hooks are positioned in the living area for greater security.

The wide rear access door is fitted with flush bonded opening window with heavily tinted privacy glass providing discrete changing facilities at your venue and event.

There is also ample storage area in the Luton cab, this is accessed via a full width hatch from the horse area, it can hold an impressive amount of equipment for days out and away.

[This is Wiltshire] Stable lads from Manton have received counselling after their horsebox was involved in a horrific motorway crash in which two people and a horse died.

The horsebox from Brian Meehan’s yard was badly damaged in the crash on the M11 on Thursday afternoon as it travelled to an evening meeting at Newmarket.

Mr Meehan, who has trained on the Sangster-owned estate since 2006, said: “The whole thing has been a terrible shock to our yard and it will take a while for people to fully recover. Our Paint Pony Pistolero died on Thursday evening at the Newmarket Equine Hospital.

“Although he was called a Paint Pony that is actually a breed of horse in America he was actually 16.2 hh horse that had been with us for eight years.

“He was used to settle our race horses both at home and on the course. He was a great character.

“He was Western-trained and was a treat to ride and children, in particular, used to love him. He was, without doubt, one of our stable stars, and we shall all miss him greatly.”

“The staff on board the box were traumatised and in a state of shock after the accident.

“It was an horrific incident on the motorway and we would like to send our sincerest condolences to the families of the people who lost their lives. They are foremost in our thoughts.”

His four male stable lads and the horsebox driver have now received counselling from experts from Racing Welfare and are back at work.

We all know of Cancer, it happens to other people. The Surrey Spring Show has been established by a group of friends who have all been touched by this disease. The idea to raise money with a charity show began when dear friends Sam Holland & Sue Alkin were both diagnosed.

The Show is being run to raise funds for The Royal Marsden Hospital (where Sam continues to receive her excellent treatment); and St.Catherines Hospice (Crawley) that cared so wonderfully for Sue. The committee and everyone involved have given their time for free and every penny of the proceeds will go to the two charities. Thank you for your kind and generous support.

Pony straddled over horsebox partition: H&H

[Horse and HoundA horse owner from West Sussex is urging other riders to take care when loading their horses, after an accident in a horsebox.

The pony became stuck over the partition

Bank Holiday plans for a sunny hack went disastrously wrong for owner Paige Howard whose pony became stuck over the partition in his horsebox before they had even left the yard on 5th May.

Paige had just shut the ramp after loading her New Forest-cross Charlie, with his stable-mate Guinness, when he panicked as the top door was being closed.

“He is a dream to load and travel,” said Paige. “But [on Monday] he jumped over the front partition halfway into the changing/storage area.”

Paige and Guinness’s owner Jane Pay tried to calm Charlie down to no avail. He pulled a chunk of Jane’s hair out, and some skin from Paige’s arm.

“He was thrashing about and pawing his front feet in the air as he made it over the partition,” said Paige, who was “removed from the scene” with Jane by friends at the yard due to shock. “Before we knew it, he was stuck.”

The vet and a 15-strong team from Horley fire brigade arrived 45mins later and Charlie was sedated in order for the firemen to cut the lorry open to free him.

Our Latest Project – Equihunter Arena in Cream

Tags

[Equihunter] Our latest project is about to roll off of the production line next week destined for a well known riding school based in Essex.

Equihunter Arena 3.5t Horsebox in cream with green and gold trim

The Equihunter Arena 3.5t Horsebox in cream with green and gold trim

This build is finished to our customer specific instructions and is completed in a beautiful rich cream paint made by BMW called “Pepper White”, with green and gold trim that matches the corporate logo of the riding school.

This Arena is built upon a 2011 Fiat Ducato chassis with only 38,000 miles on the clock.

We’ve also added special features like internal LED lighting with blue night running lights as we have on our 7.5 tonne Equihunter Endurance lorry.

dsc_5553

As fitted to the Equihunter Endurance

This ensures that the horses benefit from having a lit journey during the hours of darkness, but can also see out through the windows at assign traffic, and thus are less likely to be spooked but the sudden appearance of other vehicles headlights.

Other features include LED down lighters mounted above the rear door plus another set of LED down lights mounted high up on the drivers side of the vehicle to light the tie up area for those late evenings preparing to return home after dusk has fallen.

Here’s a gallery of images to show this Arena off….

….. the only things still to be completed are some finishing touches in the cab, the passenger seats are just about be to be delivered after being re-covered in cream vinyl and the bulkhead wall liner needs finishing. Apart from that, we’re ready to ‘rock and roll’
