The Kent Fire & Rescue Service posted this operational update at 8:00 p.pm. last night (9th July)…. Straw bales and stable alight in Gilden Hill Road, Swanley, Four fire engines and a bulk water carrier in attendance.

Crews are currently tackling a fire involving approximately 50 straw bales and stable block on Gilden Hill Road in Swanley.

Six horses have been led to safety by firefighters. There are no reports of any injuries and the cause of the fire is currently unknown.

Georgi Honnor from the yard posted this plea on Facebook this morning in the BSJA Group for any help that could be offered…..

“Urgent help needed! Our yard, Swanley Village went up in flames in an attack we are treating as suspicious after a burglary earlier in the week. We have lost everything our yard is no more, blaze has wiped everything including fencing, stables, feed, rugs, headcollars even water troughs we have nothing and 31 horses including 2 mares with young foals.

Any donation of anything horsey would be greatly appreciated as we have literally lost everything.

Georgi’s woes have been further added to when she commented that the “Yard owner is on holiday and trying to get back, couldn’t be worse of a nightmare ….
